Welcome to the website of the Research Group for Atmospheric and Climate Physics!
Since the end of the 19th century, the University of Graz has operated a weather station on the current campus grounds. Important meteorological data such as temperature, precipitation and air pressure are recorded here. These are of great interest to our research group and are also made available to the public.
The meteorological records in Graz are characterized by their longevity and, with few interruptions, date back to 1795. The data accumulated over the years, especially those collected directly on our university campus, form an indispensable basis for research into regional climate developments.
Our research focuses strongly on areas such as atmospheric remote sensing and climate science, which we conduct in close cooperation with the Wegener Center for Climate and Global Change. Another focus is aeronomy, the study of the upper layers of the atmosphere. We research this exciting discipline in cooperation with the Institute of Space Research of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
We invite you to have a look at our website for more information on the many aspects of our work.
